How are students selected for admission?
The Admission Committee at Ivy School seeks students who exhibit qualities conducive to success in our demanding academic environment. Admission decisions are made based on various factors, including entrance exam scores, past and current academic records, teacher or principal recommendations, and the applicant’s interview. We look for candidates who demonstrate strong academic ability, a genuine interest in a broad and challenging educational program, and character traits that will help them thrive at our school. Admission is not solely determined by grades and test scores, and good academic performance does not guarantee acceptance.
When will we receive our admission decision?
Admission decisions are communicated via email once they have been made.
Are siblings and legacies given special consideration?
While we understand the desire to enroll siblings together, we believe that the right fit for each child is crucial. Siblings will be considered for admission only if they exhibit qualities that will lead to success at Ivy School. Children of alumni and legacy families who have maintained a connection with the school will receive preference when all other factors are equal. However, we strongly recommend applying to other schools as admission cannot be guaranteed.
Ivy School is our first choice. Do we have to apply to another school?
Yes, we recommend having at least two alternative options in the event that your child is not admitted to Ivy School.
Does my child need to be fluent in English to attend Ivy School?
Yes, fluency in English is required to attend Ivy School as we do not offer an ESL (English as a Second Language) program.
Do you accept new students in the middle of the year?
Unfortunately, we are unable to accept new students once the school year has started. Even though some current families may move away, we do not admit new students until the following school year.
